Hanging with Billy in LA, and driving up Highway 1
Didn't take any pics on the way to LA, so first pics are as we start Billy's Architecture Tour of LA (also known as the "buildings I thought looked cool" walk).
First stop on the tour: rooftop bar.
Combination cool-looking building and bar!
Art Deco! (I think??)
Nah, my bad - pretty sure it's brutalism.
Looks cool either way.
Hooray buildings, yea!
Birthday dinner of sushi in Little Tokyo! Excellent choice by Billy.
After dinner, stopped by a fancy cocktail bar.
Apparently this place is pretty famous, so we got breakfast here on Monday morning! Definitely tasty.
Fancy building. Orchestra plays here.
Another fancy building! This one is a museum (The Broad) but it was closed.
Gotta get those fancy building pics.
Hello LA Phil.
We went inside the fancy orchestra building and took a look around.
The main concert hall had a really cool organ.
Ceiling in the concert hall was cool too.
Apparently they had to go back and make the original shiny exterior a little less shiny because it was reflecting too much light/heat.
Fancy flower fountain.
Finished our walk around LA, and headed for the beach! Here's Santa Monica, complete with the pier, and ridiculously large beach (seriously - look how far it is from the road in the foreground to the water - that's all sand!).
View from Santa Monica north towards Malibu.
Walked out on the pier, looking back towards where we came from.
Had to touch the ocean while we were out on the left coast.
Oysters!
So many scooters! You're not allowed to ride them down by the beach, so they lie in wait just outside the beach area.
Cool hole-in-the-wall Korean spot in Korea Town. Another good food pick by Billy.
